When the human body entered design thinking.
Modern ergonomics emerged from systematic study of people, equipment and environments. In 1949, the Ergonomics Research Society placed the human body more deliberately at the centre of design.
In 1953, orthopaedic surgeon J. Jay Keegan connected sitting posture with changes in the lumbar curve, bringing backrest form, pelvic position and lumbar support into the seating conversation.
